Project & Activity Ideas

Chapter advisers are encouraged to submit details of successful projects and activities, along with photographs.

Examples of chapter activities include:

  • Offering an hour of tutoring per week on request to undergraduate students
  • Sponsoring study sessions for students in engineering and computer courses
  • Conducting book drives to enrich on-campus and community libraries with current engineering publications
  • Writing grant proposals for equipment purchases that would improve engineering technology instruction

Chapters are also encouraged to participate in service-related activities, and student members should be encouraged to take the lead on chapter activities, with advisers available for guidance. Some examples of service activities include:

  • Assisting local nonprofits and schools with tutoring primary and secondary school students with STEM.
  • Toy and book drives for underrepresented communities.
  • Sponsoring a run to benefit a charity (such an activity would both benefit a charity and bring awareness to the Tau Alpha Pi chapter).

Student leaders are encouraged to initiate conferences or workshops. ASEE is available to assist with planning, and advisers should make themselves available for guidance.

If you have any details or photographs of a project that your chapter has completed, please send them to tap@asee.org for display on this website.
